  Painting comes after all of the drywall has been pointed up and sanded. Dusting is required, to remove all of the sanded particles. If it is not sanded and dusted, you " will " have problems. Caulk is then applied to all areas, where the trim meets the wall. I use my fingers, and a wet rag, this keeps drying caulk from becoming embeded in the new caulk. It also allows the caulk to be smoothed out. Paint is then applied, by first, "Cutting In"  all corners and trim edges, with a high quality paint brush. Then the rolling happens, after every 3 horizontal feet is rolled, you go back,start top to bottom in single strokes, so that the paint is all rolled the same direction.    There are several "old school" tricks, that make for a neater and faster job. The average person says they can paint, until they are cleaning paint up off of your floor, or they have to climb a ladder. Grand Pappy's barn is not the same as your home, is it?  sheet rock, ceiling repair

   Drywall, is what makes your walls flat. In some cases, in older homes you will have plaster. Drywall comes in 4'x8'-4'x8'X14' sheets. The thickness generally, is 1/2", but can be as little as 1/4", and as big as 5/8".

  Taping requires a good bit of skill. I know you have seen some do-it-your-self, patch jobs. The thing is, if you've never done it, you should'nt. With practice, you can learn to be good at it. When it really matters, it's not the time for learning. I'm not trying to discourage the DIY-er,
